I know that Julie Rodgers and Shelby McDougal are cut off on the picture. I will correct that error when I find my original photo. If you are an alumni of Avalon Park Elementary School's Class of 1972 and have class photos or personal photos from back in the day, please share them with us.

Girlfriends | Old School Style

Charisse (Cooper) Berry was in Chi-town for the Christmas 2008 holidays visiting her family. Charisse and her sister, Stacy and Denise (Crater) Allen put together and hosted a small impromptu get together. In addition to Charisse, Denise and Stacy, Sharon Hicks and Adrienne (Long) Armstrong joined the festivities. We dined on a very nice selection of shrimp, sausage, gourmet pizza and yes, we did get our drink on...nice wines, cocktails and beer. We strolled back through our days at Avalon Park, at the playground, at the big park, running around Dante and Dorchester, Blackstone, Woodlawn, Kenwood. We did a little catching up and made a promise to keep our 40 year old friendships going.

2008 was a blast, but how fast a long year comes and goes. December 2008 presented an opportunity for old friends to get re-acquainted. It all started with 4 girl-friends from Avalon Park getting together to celebrate the blessing of being on this earth for 50 years and making a promise stay connected from that day forth. Sharon Hicks, Charisse Cooper, Adrienne Long and Denise Crater got together on a Saturday night and rekindled an old friendship that never died. We talked about the good times we shared at Avalon back in the day (yes we remembered) and brought it on forward through marriages and kids and all types of stuff in between to 2009. There is nothing like good friends, good martinis (hic-cup) and good food. Love, Denise
